You are what the 2nd worst team and anything but a playoff spot is a failure. Not gonna happen. Progress towards a playoff spot is what should be realistic. Like 10-14 spot would be good. Expecting pretty much the same team as last year to all of a sudden be a playoff team is unrealistic. |

I have to agree with you man this team is ready to make the step if we stay healthy there are no excuses. We have a NHL defense all be it with a missing piece that will be addressed next year to make us cup ready. Our forward lines are scary and Talbot played his best down the stretch when our defense was the worst. Go Oilers! |

They really aren't the same team as last year.
Shipped out their captain.
Brought in a replacement winger, who plays a very different style.
Finally got a solid puck moving D.
Added another stud via the draft.
Expect a healthy McDavid for the bulk of the season.
I expect them to have a fresh attitude from day 1. and they have addressed a glaring need by trading from a position of strength. Even though they lost the trade, they still improved the team.
Also, I think there will be at least 1 more significant trade either before or shortly after the season starts.
